question

Hi, Brenda!

There are several ladies here who have had a TAH for cervical cancer. Mine was for stage 0, so it was not a radical TAH. About one year after my TAH I had a PAP come back abnormal. My doc followed that up with a colposcopy (with vinegar test) and found no evidence of any problems. He sent in several scrapings and all came back normal. So, while it's certainly easier and less nerve-wracking for them to come back normal the first time around, sometimes they can come back abnormal and it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem.

We all tend to get kind of nervous before those follow-up appointments. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Let us know when your results come back!

question

Brenda,
I had a TAH/BSO because of an ovarian mass and elevated ca125, but I didnt have ovarian cancer, BUT, on the path report they had found endocervical adenocarcinoma. So, in other words, they found it after the hyst. I ended up going thru chemo (Cisplatin) and radiation, due to the fact that they found it after the hyst. I did not have a radical Hyst, also due to the fact that they found the cancer post hyst. I have a follow up appointment on March 10, and I am scared that it will come back. I understand that is normal, but still, waiting is hard. I had also asked what stage I would be considered and the Dr said that I would probably be considered a stage 2.

I will be ing for great report for the both of us.

's for you

question

Hi, Brenda!

In response to your question, we knew about the vaginal dysplasia before the hysterectomy. When I had my LEEP in Jan 2001 I asked the doctor to repair a chronic vaginal tear I had had for a couple of years. The biopsy report from that came back as carcinoma-in-situ, so when they did the TAH they also resected more of the vaginal wall.

You'll feel so much better after your follow-up exam!
