Pre-op/Ovarian Cysts

Hi, I'm new here but I think this is a great site full of useful information not to mention support. I'm scheduled to have both ovaries removed in March due to ovarian cysts. I'd like to know if there are any other women who've had this surgery or in the process? This last week I've noticed pain on left and right sides making it somewhat difficult to walk or move about. My fam. dr. suggests the pain is most likely stemming from the ovaries. Any one else having these types of problems and if so what are you doing about it. Sorry for making this so long. Thank you! btw I have no support so reading the threads here has been a big help.

Pre-op/Ovarian Cysts

Hi taylormade,

Welcome to Hystersisters!!

I'm glad you found us and posted to say "hi. I'm just a little confused, though. Are you having only your ovaries removed and keeping your uterus? Or have you already had a hysterectomy?

Most of the ladies here are having a hysterectomy, and some are also having their ovaries removed. Some of us were able to keep our ovaries at the time we had our hysterectomies.

I'm sorry, I'm not able to help you with your question, since I still have my ovaries, but I'm sure that someone will come along soon with more information.

Pre-op/Ovarian Cysts

I know the pain you are going through luckily mine stays primarily around the right side and not throughout but it can be hard to deal with My doctor prescribed Vicadin which did not help me, Tylenol 3 which did not help and now has me on Percacet which I am not sure because I just got switched today. I use a heating pad or a warm towel which does offer some relief. Good Luck and i hoe you find something that works for you

Pre-op/Ovarian Cysts

Hello there I am going through the same thing too. I have had ovarian cysts since I was 18 years old. I am now 34 come the 20th of this month. On Friday I will be having a possible ovary removal, ablation of endometriosis, laparotomy, possible appendectomy. I am using a heating pad and the prescribed demoral. Thank God. I have really bad pains on my right side so I sure know what you are going through. Just think a few more days for me and mine will be over. I am sick of hurting. I have been exercising for 2 years and the past 2 weeks that came to a hault, cause after I would sprint and walk I would go home put on the ole heating pad and take pain killers. Oh well it won't be long and by the way you are not alone. Try a heating pad it really helps me.

Pre-Op Ovarian Cysts Removal

A big thanks to all who replied. Sorry for not making my post clear. In 1994 I had a partial hyster.(removal of uterus). I will be having surgery to have the ovaries removed. Good luck to all the pre-ops and post ops.

YEP!! Me Too!!!

Hi Taylormade!!

Just wanted you to know that I have poly-cystic ovaries on both right and left ovaries and will be having a LAVH and BSO (hope I have it right). Both ovaries are coming out because I have had severe pain on my right side for many years. I also feel pain on my left side, but not as bad as the right side!!!

I am also new to this sight and have learned a lot. My surgery is scheduled for March 7th and I am looking forward to the day when I no longer have to suffer with this pain.

Good Luck with your surgery!! I am praying that we both will be living pain free lives in just a few short months!!!

If you want, please e-mail or PM me!!! It would be fun to keep in touch since our surgery dates are close together!!! We can compare notes!!

GOD BLESS!!
Patty
