Report this to the governing body

This is something that should be reported to whatever organization or government agency licenses pharmacists ans/or pharmacies. As has been pointed out, this is a serious error which could have been fatal. Unfortunately, we all need to educate ourselves so that we can protect ourselves as much as possible. The number of problems that are caused by the wrong medications or wrong dosages being administered is high. It's so important that we not just trust blindly. And what a shame, but it's the truth.

I'm glad no real damage was done in your case and that the situation has been corrected. Definitely let your doctor know about this ASAP. It could change your treatment plan.

I called both doctors today...the Uro and the GYN. GYN said that the Prometrium probably did not hurt me but she would not have prescribed it for me as I don't have a uterus.

Uro's office and my GYN both said that the big concern was I have not been on medication for my bladder for the past 6 weeks when I thought I was. I certainly had a reasonable expectation to "believe" I was. And, thankfully I do not have a peanut allergy or it could have been a fatal error.

At this point, the plan is to continue with the PT, do the laprascope on the 13th as planned, take the correct medication and we'll go from there. Hopefuly by the time the scope has been done I will be feeling better.

This should not happen, but it does. I always look at the meds when I get a refill, but since this was new med, how was I to know it was not the right one????

So...PLEASE take a moment to look at your meds, ask your pharmacist questions and don't take anything for granted. It's our body and our lives at stake.

I do feel better mentally tonight....

Thank you for all the concern. I'll keep you all updated....

Wrong medication dispensed!!!!!

(((Lori)))) It sounds like your lucky star was in your sky... so to speak: a potentially fatal situation ended with very little harm.

Hopefully, you'll feel a lot better now that you're taking the right medication.

I'm thankful that the pharmacy where I go to always gives me the documentation with any prescription I take... hoping, of course, that I'm getting the right meds. It's hard to know, when you don't know what the meds are supposed to look like And with today's generic meds, you never know what they'll end up looking like!!!

Thank you for telling this story here (((Lori))). You have probably saved some lives tonight.

I'm soooo glad you're back on the right track and didn't suffer any serious harm from the mistake the pharmacy made.

Hopefully the right meds will have you feeling much better soon!
