My Vivelle patch....

Hi everyone, I am really confused today, I had been having hot flashes again about 1 1/2 ago and was crabby ect. I had been on a .75 Vivelle patch for a couple months and had been doing fine and than the flashes started again.

So the Dr. upped my dosage to .05 in the mean time I had gotten some really nasty spells of Depression & anxiety and my Dr. switched me from (prozac which I had been on 20mg a day) to Zoloft which I have been on now about 1 month.

Went to see Psychiatrist yesterday and told him I am havin some weird floating anxiety hot and cold kinda paniky feelings, he thinks because my body is so Drug sensitive it is still getting use to the Zoloft.

My Question is did anyone have any of these kind of effect w/the Vivelle increase (my breasts were a little tender for awhile , it's better now) but my point is do you guys think the anxiety weird feeling is the Zoloft, and not patch or needing more estrogen again???? I am really confused because each one can drive you a little crazy LOL!!!

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!

My Vivelle patch....

Was your increased dose of Vivelle simultaneous with switching from Prozac to Zoloft?

I ask this because I take Paxil, and at one point my doc switched me to Zoloft and I had horrible anxiety with the Zoloft. Anti-depressants are so much like hormone therapies--what works for one, does not work for another. My unqualified guess would be that it's the Zoloft that is causing your symptoms. Definitely discuss this with your doctor.

I know it's frustrating---for many of us it takes time and experimenting to find the right balance.

's to you...

My Vivelle patch....

Just a question?? Isn't the vivelle dot .75 a higher dosage dot than .05? That would mean your Dr. lowered your dosage? Perhaps your physician got confused and wrote down the wrong amount?Lowering instead of raising? If he had raised it you would be on the 1.0 vivelle dot, I think....

Vivelle Patch

I'm in agareement the .75 is a higher dose than the .05. Did he give you the .05 to take in conjunction w/the .75?

Also, the son of one of my bosses here at work was put on Zoloft and had horrible, horrible side effects and instead of taking him off his doctor kept increasing the dose giving him worse side effects. The brought him home and 3 doctors here were in agreement and took him off the zoloft and now he is just on xanax. I'm also in agreement that the zoloft could be giving you bad side affects.

I would sugges upping your patch dosage. If you still have the .75 and .05, try putting both on at the same time.

I'm currently on the .1 and .025 dose, after being on .1 and .05 and am thinking of asking for the .05 again as I was feeling pretty good on that.

Good luck.

My Vivelle patch....

The initial response to Zoloft can cause one to feel hyper. It should adjust in a few weeks. What is the dose of the Zoloft?
Also, when you say the doctor increased your dose from .75 to .05, did mean .15? .05 is a decrease from .75

Sorry ....about Vivelle dosage

Hi, everyone, see how CRAZY this Zoloft is making me ! It was a switch from .25 to .05 it was an increase. Now about the Zoloft started about 4 weeks ago on 25mg. and now have been on 50 mg. for over 2 weeks, still almost feeling like I'm going to have a panic attack.
Today I am especially jittery as I think I have some flu or sinus infection problems on top of everything!
Thanks everyone again for all your input it really does help!

My Vivelle patch....

Mystee, I am so sorry you are having a hard time. I have been on different antidepressents for about five years now. I had been off about a year before my surgery which was 12/17/02. I pretty much was going through pre-menopause the last five years. I had my last ovary removed with this last surgery and after about six weeks on a patch, my stored estrogen ran out, I changed docs and he took me off all hrt due to severe endo. I changed docs and went to my family doc and told her my depression was severe and it was back and I refused to live like that again. I went back on prozac, which is the one I have no side effects with. I was on zoloft first and the more I took it, the less I slept, I was drinking more and I could not sit still, I was a nervous wreck. It made me hyper. The lower dose worked okay, but I didn't like it because it kept me awake at night and it kept me from eating and it killed my sex drive. I have been on paxil that was okay, but I wanted to sleep too much and lay around and not get up and do nothing and I didn't care about nothing. Nothing bothered me, and that was too much. I needed to care about some things like, paying my bills, cleaning my house. I didn't care about none of that. Celexia put me in the bed all the time. All I did was sleep and drag around and stayed in a deep fog all the time. I have not tried effoxer, I am settled with prozac. It took about three days for all the depression to go. But it's gone. I also had to up my patches, but my doc wanted to increase the patches first then try the prozac so we would know which one worked. The depression got better with the patch increase but did not really go away until I got back on prozac. This is a chemical imbalance I know. I have no reason to be depressed. I was drinking again, started smoking and am not drinking at all now that I'm back on prozac. If you doc does not agree that the Zoloft is causing you to be a nervous wreck, change docs. Zoloft will kill your sex drive as a lot of antidepressents will. Good luck honey, hang in there. If you don't understand how the depression comes with the estrogen loss, read the book "Screaming to be Heard". This woman explains everything about what's happening with the changes. Beth

TAH 12/17/02 severe endo. no ovaries, Vivelle patch 1 3/4 patches. That's almost two patches, but I'm happy.
