Urethra please help?

Sorry I forgot to tell you that I had a and p repairs... he did warn me that I would have to stretch myself after the op to enlarge my vaginal entrance but I never knew that he would make me so small that I would not be able to see the vaginal entrance. If he has "oversewn" me - he might have to cut me open a bit... I am dreading it. I did phone him after all your replies and he has made an appointment for me to see him next week.

My own doctor is a honey and has all the time in the world for me... So not all my faith is lost in them.

I had a dreadful experience in finding the right gynae.

The first one I saw, after less then 15 minutes into the consultation, based on my ultrasound scan suggested he book me in for the hysterectomy within 3 days as I must do it to avoid cancer.

It was too soon for me and when I said no he put the fear of the great almighty into me by suggesting that fibroids turn cancerous.
He even called me back to reconfirm this problem and pushed me to have the op. I got a call from the hospital asking where I was and I had definitely said no. He had booked me in without me knowing.

Further, he made a comment when looking at his diary... lets see I have a cancellation for theatre on Monday I can fit you in then... I got the impression that he wanted to fill a slot and bank balance deficit. I have since heard that I was right. Totally money motivated.

I was in tears for 2 weeks or so until I could get an appointment with another doctor. I did not need a hysterectomy at that stage as I was almost symptomless or had learnt to cope with my symptoms.

I think our doctors are paying similar malpractice premiums now. I teach scuba diving and I have to pay American rates...

Thank you so much for listening to me...and for taking the time to reply. I have not found this whole thing easy... I am new in Australia and I have no friends here yet so you have all been wonderful.

to all of you

Follow up

Well I went to see the gynae who did the op and he said that I am healing very well and that the way he has sewn me up is exactly what he wanted. He said that how I was before was really wrong and that this is the correct way.

In fact he seemed suprised that I had healed as well as I had after only 4 weeks (thank you Hystersister... it has to be all the good instructions I received here).

I give the man his due I did believe him when he said he intended me to look this way and that in his mind this is a successful outcome.

I noticed that when I stand up and use a mirror to look (no please don't laugh...) that I can see my vagina so perhaps not all is lost and he was able to insert a speculum or something that was one finger wide without me feeling pain so maybe the stretching is not going to be so bad.

I do still think he has created a well around my urethra that wasnt there before and in fact I have just today been treated for UTI for the first time in my life. I wonder about the urethra being part of the opening where there is moisture from bodily fluids.

Perhaps the extra surrounding moisture will contribute to infections in the future?

I will keep you posted if there are any further developments.

Urethra please help?

Pla,

Thanks for coming back to update us. I wondered how you were doing.

There is another post today on the road which asks for weblinks to pictures of the vagina. There is a response with weblinks to sites with pictures. You may find it helpful just to get an idea of what "normal" looks like in comparison to what you look like.

Just becareful with the "normal" comparison. We are all individuals and just as our noses are different, I suspect our vaginas are individual as well. Hopefully, the pictures would help you indentify where structures should be located, etc. I think that is the information that you are seeking.

Best wishes to you in the land down under (I mean Australia )

Hang in there!

Pain with sexual relations is uncommon but when it occurs, it may significantly disrupt interpersonal relationships. This category refers to pain that occurs only with deep penetration of the vagina and should be differentiated from pain that occurs at the opening of the vagina more superficially.

Goals:

Deep pelvic pain is much worse when a woman is having intercourse and is on the "top" position. This results in the deepest penile penetration and often moves the pelvic organs. Pain with deep penetration during sexual relations often indicates that anatomical pathology is causing pain.
