Update from doctor's visit

I have been experiencing bowel pains and intestinal cramping around the same time of the month for the past few months. I have also been experiencing pains in my side. The doctor said that he could not feel any new masses. He doesn't think it is endometriosis or anything horrible. He said my right ovary was difficulty to feel. He said it probably has adhesions connecting to it. He wants me to try birth control pills (Alesse) for a couple of months and see if it helps. He said this would help show if the ovary is the problem. If I am still having problems, he will send me for the sigmoidscope. If that comes out negative he recommends going in and removing the ovary and adhesions. He is not pushing the surgery yet. I would desribe the pains and moderate so I will try and see how the pills work and then go from there. It has been years since I've been on the pill. Anyone here been on Alesse? Can you tell me what the possible side effects might be?

Thanks so much for listening. I just can't seem to get off this road!

Sorry that you are experiencing problems. I am on the bc pill post hyst for a cystic ovary and endo. It has been quite helpful. I don't take the one you mentioned -- I take Ortho Tricyclen -- but I have heard that it is one of the better ones. Good luck.
