's Bren!

It's normal for you to still feel tired. Just take that as a sign from your body to get more rest or an extra hour of sleep at night. I was exhausted my first 6 months after TAH, and then still tired for the remainder of the first year. Now (2 years post) I can't tell any difference at all, and that's been the case for several months now. So don't get down because you're tired!

As for the mammogram, I've known several women who were in your same situation. It was very nerve-wracking for them and they also worried constantly. Mine was a little different. I had the mammogram and was referred to a breast specialist because I had a calcification that looked suspicious. They did a breast biopsy and it was benign. I do have fibrocystic breast disease, but other than having lumpy breasts, I have no symptoms--no discomfort or anything.

Good luck tomorrow! Keeping my fingers crossed that all is found to be normal!

Dear Bren,

I've cried a lot today.

I cried with the doctor as he talked about chemo options. I cried in the hallway with a nurse, who also cried as she told me she would be right by my side through the chemo and would pray for me every night.

I tried to buy "Cancer Schmancer" and "It's Always Something," and when Barnes & Noble didn't have it, the lady who was helping me went to her car to get her personal copy of some other book written by a breast/ovarian cancer survivor -- so she could give it to me as a gift. So my mom and I cried, and then the saleswoman cried.

I suspect I will be crying a lot in the coming months, and the nurse keeps telling me that "letting it out" is healthy and good and necessary.

I'm crying now, because it's all too much. And because it just kills me to know that there are other people out there who feel like I do right now.

Please take care of yourself. I am also hoping that the spot turns out to be nothing. The only good news I've had in a month is that my breasts were clear. Unfortunately, after reading the pathology report from my March 6th surgery earlier today, I realize that my body had so much horrible stuff going on -- without symptoms! -- that I could hardly believe it. I am grateful daily that they found it and are doing what's necessary to get fully rid of it.

If work is too much, take some time off. Or get a massage -- which un-does so much stress and always seems so healing. It sounds like you're balancing way too much. Be good to yourself. And let us know how things turn out.

s! :-)
