Please! I need you help...

Please i am looking for some help for my sister. She has been on Tamoxifen for 2 years and for over a year now she has had a yeast infection. Her primary doctor has tried the usual treatmeant but nothing seems to have helped. She has been put on the acidophilus pills to see if they would help too, but had no luck. Her doctor has done a swab and she is testing positive with a yeast infection.
I would like to know or hear from someone that maybe has had the same problem while taking tamoxifen? The side effects to the tamoxifen don't list yeast infection. Has anyone had this problem? And if you have, have you had any luck getting rid of itand how did you do so?
Thank you so much for reading and hopefully responding to this.

Please! I need you help...

About five years ago, I had persistent yeast infections that wouldn't go away. Oddly, my college roommate (who lives in another city) reported a similar problem had plagued her in the previous year. (These were not related to Tamoxifen, but this info may be of use.)

There are some "yeast infection" boards on the web that offer a host of weird cures when nothing else works. One cure is to take a head of garlic (peeled), wrap it in cheescloth and sleep with it placed in the area of infection (inside). A few days of that seemed to help.

Another thing that really helps: Remove ALL sugar from your diet. No soda, candy, ice cream, margaritas or anything with sugar or honey. This helps IMMENSELY.

I don't recall the name of the similar-to-hystersisters site that offered alternative cures from a lot of different people (including thin yogurt popsicles, also for internal placement), but a search on Google might help you find the site. PM me if you can't find it and I can call my college roommate, since she mentioned it to me in the first place.

It's been my experience that doctors say, "Oh. Well, if this doesn't work, I'm not sure what's going on." I was personally disappointed in the care I got from the doctor and nurse practitioners with whom I met.

I hope your sister heals soon. Can she take Diflucan while she's on Tamoxifen? Diflucan works for me. But I've been infection-free for many years now.

Thanks for your reply SirenSong,
I will mention your ideas to my sister. I do know the doctor has tried a couple of the yeast infection "cures" but none seem to help. There was a couple of the things that you had mentioned that I kind of remembered hearing/reading about not using.. like sugar, so I will try looking up a site that might have more info on it. thanks again.
