Sisters I Need Help! About Immune System After Hyst.

MY DEAREST SISTERS,

I HAVE NOT POSTED IN A WHILE BECAUSE I AM EITHER SICK OR THE WORLD IS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN. I REALLY NEED TO FIND A ANSWER.

IS IT POSSIBLE THAT AFTER HAVING TWO MANY SURGERIES YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM CAN BECOME WEAK? THE REASON I ASK IS IT SEEMS SINCE MY LAST TWO SURGERIES (OCT. LAPROSCOPIC FOR SEVERE ADHESIONS, THEN NOV. MY TAH/BSO/APPENDECTOMY.) AND BEFORE THOSE SO MANY OTHER COMPLICATIONS I CAN NOT BE AROUND ANYONE WHO IS SICK AND I MEAN EVEN WITH A LITTLE RUNNY NOSE. I SEEM TO GET EVEN MORE SICK EACH TIME. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN MY KIDS COME DOWN SICK AND I ALWAYS GET IT TWICE AS BAD.

I JUST GOT OVER HAVING THE STREP LAST WEEK AND HERE I AM AGAIN SICK WITH FEVER, SORE THROAT, HEADACHE, LIKE FLU LIKE SYMPTOMS. WHAT DO I DO? I HAVE ALREADY BEEN TAKING A ONE A DAY VITAMIN AND SOME HERBAL STUFF FROM THE HEALTH STORE. I JUST DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO.. THIS IS REALLY RIDICULUS.

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THIS.. I AM BACK ON ANTIBIOTICS AND COLD STUFF.

THANKS FOR BEING HERE FOR ME. I ALWAYS KEEP ALL OF YOU IN MY PRAYERS. HUGS AND PRAYERS NICKY

Dear Sadly, Here is a for you. I don't have an answer to your question but I want to tell you I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with getting sick. Have you talked to your Dr. about your concerns? I know surgery is hard on the body and I imagine it could make ones resistance low but I think a call to your Dr. is in order. Maybe someone will come along soon with some better answers than I have. Meanwhile be sure to get lots rest, drink fluids and try to eat well. I hope you feel better soon. Kathyanne

Oh Sadly

I know exactly how you feel unfortunatly!! Have you had your thyroid levels tested? I ask because that is what caused my immune system to colapse. I was sick with everything and had a hard time functioning and being able to even get out of bed.

It is just a thought as thyroid disease can wreck havoc on your immune system...

I am sending you a HUGE and praying you get well soon..

Pam

Hi Sadly,

I'm sorry to hear you're having a hard time. Yes, surgery can weaken your immune system. I hardly even catch a cold but have come down with one with in a week or ten days of each of my last two surgeries. I am also more sensitive to chemicals after surgery. The best thing to do is to take really, really good care of yourself and let your body heal.

Have you ever tried naturopathic or homeopathic healing? I don't mean by yourself, but with a practitioner. Building the immune system is right up their alley. I have also had good luck with some things with acupuncture. Who knows, your may even have a recommendation. It's important to find someone who really knows what they're doing, not somebody who has just taken a weekend course somewhere. Sometimes a compounding pharmacy or a health food store will know of qualified people.

Just a thought.

THANK YOU JOSELLE, MICHELLE35,PAM01,KATHYANNE

I FEEL SO WORN DOWN. I HAVE ASKED THE DR. ABOUT THE THYROID TEST PAM. THYROID DISEASE RUNS IN MY FAMILY. BUT THE DR. DID NOT WANT TO DO THE TEST TO SOON AFTER SURGERY. SO MAYBE HE WILL DO IT IN MAY FOR MY 6MTH CHECK UP.

I HAVE ASKED THE HEALTH FOOD STORE FOR RECOMMENDATIONS TO PLACES TO HELP BUILD THE IMMUNE SYSTEM BUT ALL THOSE DR. AND PLACES ARE TO FAR AWAY FROM HEAR.

I AM RUNNING FEVER AGAIN TODAY I AM TRYING TO STAY ON THE ANTIBIOTIC AND TAKE 800MG OF MOTRIN AROUND THE CLOCK.

OF COURSE MY DH DID MAKE ME LAUGH AND SAID I COULD NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE UNTIL I WAS FREE OF FEVER FOR 24HRS. LOL
THATS WHAT THE SCHOOL SAYS BEFORE I CAN SEND THE KIDS BACK WHEN THEY ARE SICK.

THANKS AGAIN SISTERS I KNEW I COULD COUNT ON YOU. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS LET ME KNOW. I WILL TRY ANYTHING. HUGS AND PRAYERS NICKY

Hugs

Hi,
I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. Do talk to your doctor about your concerns. Also, I explore alternative as well as convential treatments, and I recommend a supplement called olive leaf extract, available in health food stores and even now Wal-mart. I have had great success with it in preventing and healing from infections and viruses. Also take vitamin C. Most antibiotics make me really sick, so I have had to try alternatives. What have you been taking from the health food store? I sure hope your doctor or an alternative remedy will get you on the healthy road soon. You are in my prayers.
Love, Light, Blessings

Hello SadlY!!!

I understand what you are going through. I am a 3rd grade teacher and after this last sinus infection, I am definitely rethinking career plans. I had a sinus infection when I left the castle in Aug, it reoccurred in Oct, felt bad again in Dec, and March... and still not feeling well!!!! This time I had to take off a week, and I still am not feeling that great.

This time was very unnerving because I too had chills and a fever I couldn't shake. I never get fevers when I have sinus infections. I have experineced the antiboditcis and yeast infections. This time around, I actually had to pay $ 100 for my medication. This antibodic is not covered on my insurance plan. I have had CAT scans and went to a ENT docotr. They cannot find any problems. So I am blaming it on those little runny nose students of mine. They come in, feel bad for a day or two and then go on with life. Meanwhile I feel like a worn out football.

I am sitting here, coughing up post nasal drip, sleeping sitting straight up in my bed (can't lay down because of the drainage from my sinuses), going through a box of tissues a day, toting a plastic bag to hold all of my snotty tissues) Yuck!!!! And I am very MEAN now. Darn it!!!! I don't feel good!!!

Oh it felt so good to vent!!!!! I will defininitely try the olive leaf (can't remember the correct name) to build up resistance. Will I ever get to the point where I feel healthy for a long period of time. ?

Sisters I Need Help! About Immune System After Hyst.

When I saw your post, I just had to respond. Sadly...I've had 6 (I think) surgeries in the past 3 years and 5 of them were major. I have definitely been down the road of a low immune system. In fact, my immune system is so crappy that the docs are blaming my slow healing from the hyst on it. I had posted awhile back that I tore my vaginal cuff...the vaginal tissues are just healing extremely slow. They've checked my hormone levels especially estrogen, and my ovaries that I kept are working just fine. The story of my immune system is really sad. I'm a twin and have always been the "weaker twin." As a kid I always caught colds etc. easily. Then as an adult I started getting horrible bronchitis episodes. Anyway, in 1999 I had my jaw broken and wired shut due to permanent lock-jaw...I was clenching my teeth at night due to chronic....guess what....PELVIC PAIN...and it caused my jaw to lock up. A surgeon had to break it and wire me shut for 8 weeks. After the jaw surgery, I developed chronic tonsilitis which looked to the ear nose and throat doc exactly like strep throat. (I had the white stripes in my throat and everything..) However, all the strep tests were negative. I was not responding to antibiotics and they finally took my tonsils out. Guess what? The symptoms of tonsilits did not go away, except my tonsils were gone. For a year afterwards, I developed a fever every 6 weeks, horrible body aches and sore throat. They finally chalked it up to chronic fatigue syndrome. I've tried everthing from "liver cleansing" regimes where you drink massive doses of nasty green herbal drinks to weekly B-12 shots from the doctor. I still don't know if I really had chronic fatigue syndrome. The monthly fevers eventually went away, thank God. The fatigue during that time was aweful. I still have fatigue since my hyst but have to say it's not as bad as that year. On the advice of my doctor, I started taking 1500 mg of vitamin C per day. He said the body doesn't overdose on vitamin C, what your body does not use will be evacuated when you urinate. It took a few months but I don't get sick as often as I used to. I chew 2 vitamin C's daily like it's a religion. I don't eat enough fruits to get my doses of it. Also, I think the B-12 shots paid off over time. Sometimes our immune systems need a good boost. My doc wrote the B-12 shots off as necessary so my insurance would cover it. This is just my , I hope it helps to know you're not alone. I believe that alot of surgery can weaken the immune system. It happened to me and it was really hard. Now I have that under control and am battling the chronic hyst pain and . It's always something, eh? Take care sister.
