had dr's appt. today and have some questions

I had my first pap today after a radical TAH/BSO for 1b adenocarcinoma of cervix. My gyn onc said I had a couple of polyps/skin tags on my vaginal cuff, but not to panic (?) that it's only a reaction to the stitches and not to worry if I experience spotting after sex. Has anyone else had this? Also, even though I am to see him every three months for the next three years, he said that I only need a pap once a year. I would think I would need one more often. Any input would be appreciated.

had dr's appt. today and have some questions

Hi Sue,

I had my hyst for cervical cancer, and my ONC GYN has me on a follow-up schedule of appointments that will last for 5 years. I started at every 2 months, then went to 3 months and am now at 4 month visits. My Dr. has done a PAP each time. Almost a year ago I had a PAP that came back questionable, so I had to have a colposcopy with biopsies which were done in the office. It turned out it wasn't anything to worry about .

If it were me, I'd be discussing this with my Dr. I'm happy to see that you are being seen by an ONC GYN, as they are the experts. After discussing with your Dr., perhaps get a second opinion to ensure your comfort level.

Best wishes and s

had dr's appt. today and have some questions

Hi Sue,

I had my TAH for CIS/CIN3. I was told I would have a pap every 3 months for 2 yrs, then every 6 months until 5 yrs, then once a year.

Thanks Tina and Em for your responses. I thought it was strange when he said he will do a PAP only once a year even though I am seeing him every three months. Maybe I misunderstood him, but I don't think so. In any event, I will discuss it with him when I see him again in June. Thanks for your help!

had dr's appt. today and have some questions

I had stage 1A and had to have paps every 3-4 months for the first year and every 6 months thereafter. Please don't ever be intimidated to ask for more. I asked my gyn/oncologist for CT scans every six months for the first year. It was not protocol but he prescribed it anyway.
