adhesions after ooperectomy?

I have a question - again!

After my doc removed my ovaries which were adhered to pelvic wall I asked if there was a risk of more adhesions from this. I was pretty sure after extensive reading on the subject that this was the case (ty sheri for guiding me to many places for info )

However his answer was no, this should fix the whole problem.

Well 2 weeks since surgery I am starting to get that familiar tugging pain around left (ex!) ovary. Of course I am hoping that it is just healing pain right?

Re-reading adhesion sites I see that adhesions can be common after removal of ovarian cysts - but nothing specifically relating to post oopherectomy. And if I have new ones what might be sticking to what this time???

Anyone have a clue? I see him again in a few weeks re HRT so I guess I can ask again then, but as he said it won't happen I am not hopeful of a clear answer.

Second q - this surgery was by lap. One other thing he told me at post op visit was that he could not "see" pouch of douglas or recto-vaginal area as with no uterus this area is hard to "get at".
True or not? Anyone know?

thanks for any advice -

adhesions after ooperectomy?

I have been curious about the same thing, from what I have read any surgery puts you at risk for adhesions has great info. I believe the odds are somewhat less with laproscopic vs the laporatomy. I haven't seen any ratings as to how often certain types of surgeries cause them etc. My last surgery was for adhesion removal, it had wrapped up my left ovary and adhered my bowels together. From my post op visit, I found that GYN found it every where in lower region.... He used the adhesion barrier like Interceed which is a mesh type barrier to try and keep them from returning. I did keep my ovary so it is still at risk for adhesions as are the bowels I guess, only time will tell though.

BTW: I still have some of those tugging pains too, I am hoping they are related to post op too. I am almost 5 wks post op so I am doing lots of praying etc, don't want to continue to deal with those things!

Remember to take care and get lots of rest!
