Hot flash remedies - Black Cohosh and Green Tea

I've read through the posts, but am confused, b/c when I went to buy the black cohosh, the pharmacist said to stick with remifemen b/c it is the only one that is standardized, and tested - it's 50mg - other brands of just black cohosh were 50 mg or 550 mg - how do you know what to take - and has anyone taken it for more than 6 months, or had side effects at the higher dose - I bought the remifemin (of course much more expensive) and will start it after breakfast ---also for about 3 days I have been drinking about 3 cups of green tea a day,no results yet, but I am hopeful - but bought the capsules, b/c that will guarantee that I get it daily - too hot to drink hot tea, and the iced seems to need to be "drinken" quickly so as not to lose the benefits-

Hot flash remedies - Black Cohosh and Green Tea

I've taken black cohosh for about 8 months and don;t plan to stop -although I did cut my dose down. I started with remifemin - it is more expensive, but I've found some generics work fine - with others no effect at all.

It can take a few weeks to feel the full effect of remifemin

Hot flash remedies - Black Cohosh and Green Tea

I have been taking black cohosh (Remifemin) since January 2002 with no problems. When I first started taking it, it took several weeks for it to kick in, but since then it has really cut down on my hot flashes - fewer, shorter, less intense. I plan to keep taking it, at least until I finish taking Tamoxifen (which gives me hot flashes) in December 2005.
