How long for final pathology reports?

My frozen section of my ovaries came up clean. Yeah! But am hesitate to celebrate until I see the final pathology report.

I had my TAH/BSO on 3/20. My gyn/onc said the report would be in his office the following Wednesday. On Friday, I called, still no report. The PA said, maybe the lab is holding it up for some reason.

Now, of course, I am worried.

My staples come out on Monday so I will be there in person to ask about the report but was wondering.....

How long does it take to get the final pathology report?

Both my docs said that it only took a few days for the dye to run through the tissue.

Should I be nervous?

How long for final pathology reports?

OK, if you don't want to celebrate in public yet, I'll go along.....but I'm doing a very private happy dance.

My surgery was on a Friday and my dr had my report when I saw him on the following Friday. I'm sorry the PA left you hanging with the explanation she gave you. It would concern me also, but I would think that your dr would be notified sooner if they found something worrisome. I'm glad you're going to see them on Monday. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

I've wondered how it went for you! I haven't been able to get on much myself, so I didn't keep track, but was VERY happy to see your news .

Sometimes the hold-up isn't in the processing of the specimen, but rather in the administrative details...i.e., the typing, mailing (or faxing), etc. The report may not be in the chart yet, but it doesn't mean that it's not been dictated...maybe not yet typed, or sent, just yet. I realize that it's no consolation when you are awaiting news of this sort. OTOH, your preliminary news is excellent indeed...and if there is something on this final report, it is likely to be very early stage and therefore difficult to see.

But I'm with EM...a tiny is in order, I would think. What else did the surgeon say -- was it severe endo, as we suspected? If so, I truly hope this is the "end-o" the road for you!

Hope you are following your training, and taking it easy, and I'll look forward to the REAL celebration (Monday, maybe???)

-- Good to hear from you!
