Odd Spotting

On 5 March, I had a TAH/BSO with Burch Tuck. My last period ended the day of my surgery. After my surgery, I did not bleed at all. In fact, up until last evening (31 March -- almost a month later) I had absolutely no bleeding. All of that changed last evening when I developed a dark brown, light spotting. Is this normal? Has anyone else ecperienced this. Eveything I've read usually indicates bleeding from the get go so that's why I'm concerned.

Odd Spotting

I just started getting some brown spotting. I think it is probably related to internal stitches disolving since I have seen this in other posts here at 3-4 weeks.

(((Keep)))
You may experience some spotting or discharge due to the stitches dissolving at around 3-5 weeks post op. I would still check with your doctor to make sure that everything is okay. If you start to have bright red bleeding please call the doctor immediately!

Odd Spotting

What a relief. I sure wish my doctor had mentioned something about internal stitching dissolving and potential for spotting. Since I was one of the lucky few who had absolutely no bleeding post-surgery, this scared me to death.

((((Hope))))
One other thing I forgot to ask is, did you keep your cervix? If you kept your cervix there is also a chance to have "mini periods." Some women have them monthly just a light discharge and others have none whatsoever. I am amazed that your physician never explained to you that you could experience some discharge. By any means I would still contact your physician to make sure that everything is fine.

Odd Spotting

I did not keep my cervix, and, too am surprised that I was not advised of potential spotting. I was advised that I would have flow directly after the surgery (which didn't happen), but not told of the subsequent spotting. I have contacted my Dr today, but have not had a return call as of yet. Thank you for the feedback. I'm no longer fretting like I was earlier. I think this all makes normal sense, but will ensure my Dr confirms.
