bathtub question???

I was wondering if anyone could tell me, is the "no tub" rule because of my abdominal incision, or is this because of vaginal suturing?? I am 12 days post op, my abdominal incision has healed almost perfectly, I feel fantastic, and would love nothing more than to soak in a nice bubble bath!

bathtub question???

Hi chris,

I believe it is because of the "nothing in the vagina" rule, until cleared by your dr. There is risk of infection if you go swimming or bathe too early in recovery. I know how you feel, I wanted to take a bath so badly when I was in recovery. Give your dr. a call, they all are different in when they allow patients to return to bathing. Some have been cleared at two weeks, but do check with your dr. Take care s

bathtub question???

My doctor told me at my 4 week post-op check-up not to get into the bathtub until I reached 6 weeks post-op.

The reason being is not to get the bath water into the vagina~~to make sure the internal stitches were well healed. I have been taking showers (although I much prefer my bath) since the surgery and thankfully have not have any problems in that area. It's a small price to pay for effective healing.

Hang in there. The time will pass quickly.

bathtub question???

i called my drs nurse following post op 2 weeks. i forgot to ask dr. anyway, she told me is was due to incessions on tummy. as long as they were closed up and healed i was good to go. the stiches in the vignia are protected well enough but the tummy is not. i was told as long as i looked good to dr and was at least 14 days post have fun and enjoy the bath. sex is still a no go till the 6 wek chech as dr decides. good luck! check with your dr frist as he may want something different pending how your surgery was done.
