May I ask what are the symptoms of Uterus Cancer?

I have heard it is very hard to diagnose. The pap smear will come back normal (most of the time). There is unusual spotting or discharge. I am concerned about this but my doctor isn't. He did a D & C. At the time, I was told that there was a place that concerned him. He did a biopsy anyway. I have no fibroids. When the biopsy came back, he said it was from all those years of taking birth control. I am 50 and had my tubes tied when I was 29 because of BIG problems taking birth control. I just wanted to say "Idiot, can't you read a chart?" That can't be the reason. Now more problems and going to have a TAH for abnormal bleeding. I have very unusual spotting and discharges. Sometime they are like rust and very light. I have had pain in my left side for 4 years. My regular doctor has done every test imaginable on me, even took out my gall bladder. Now it feels like it is radiating from the pelvic area. It did not at first. I am concerned about cancer but no one will talk to me about it.

I had endpmetrial cancer 16 months ago. My symptoms were much like yours. This does not mean you have cancer. It could just be menopausal. Did you check in with a onoclogist gyne??
I think that would be your best bet, they are the experts and will truly get to the bottom of your problem. Stay positive, as I said it could be nothing.

What a scarey time, but you'll be fine whether it's cancer or not. I had uterine cancer last year. The symptoms were post menapausal bleeding - very light bleeding. Fortunately, this cancer is easily detected with a uterine biopsy or D&C. Your post said you had a D&C. Did you get a copy of the path report? That should put your mind at ease. A pap smear does not detect uterine cancer.

Please be assured that uterine cancer is typically a slow growing cancer and the cure rates with early detection is 95%!! - that beats driving a car. It probably even beats breathing our polluted air.

I also highly recommend you consult a gyn/onc. But I'm sure you've read that over and over on this site.

Be sure to post again. We'll worry until we know you're okay.

Thanks for the support

I still don't know if my symptoms are those of cancer. The doctor did do a biopsy (I think) during the D & C. That is when he said my problem was from all those years of taking birth control pills. I have not taken birth control pills in 31 years when I had my tubes tied. Makes you wonder about the biopsy doesn't it. I had to remind the doctor of my tubes being tied.

Let me say that my doctor is suppose to be one of the best in town. He is VERY busy and comes in and out very fast. I hate that but it seems you go to the best and this is what happens. I could go to someone else that would take time but may not be as good. Many women swear by him.

My husband and I both think that this pain I have had for over 4 years in my side is related to my female problems now. I had a friend that was fainting and had severe headaches. They did an MRI and many other test on her. Thought she had a brain tumor. Turns out is was all related to cervical caner.

My pain was mainly is my left side. I had my gall bladder removed. (that pain is usually on the right) a colonoscopy, and a c scan where they put in dye. Found nothing. It felt like a severe side stitch. Now it is radiating from around my pelvis area. I sometimes have a pain that make me stand straight up.

Someone please tell me what the symptoms are and can the cancer be on the outside of the uterus or possible ovaries. I had that cancer test and it was negative.

May I ask what are the symptoms of Uterus Cancer?

Did you have c sections? There are several ladies I have read about that had severe adhesions from prior surgeries that are now causing pain.... I have even read about tubals causing adhesions. I have a friend that had a c section with both of her children and is now at 49 experiencing pain, which has been attributed to adhesions from her c sections.. She has already had several adhesions removed with a lap surgery. I would definetly ask for a copy of your path report from the d and c. You can get that from the dr. office....Your questions and concerns should be addressed to your satisfacation.....No matter how busy your great doc is....Get the path report and if there are questions press the office staff until the doc calls you back..... Remember the squeeky (sp?) wheel gets oiled the fastest....

sgm please try not to worry but the bottom line is that until you have had your operation and everything has gone to the path lab noone will be able to tell you anything. The most important thing is to have total trust in your dr and to be positive. I had endo carcinoma which was on the outside of the uterus but i had no in-between bleeding. Dont bother yourself with what are the symptoms as you will drive yourself mad. Just wait for the pathology report and have faith in your Dr. Im sure you will be fine. Take care. Let us know how you get on.

symptoms can vary, but...

Well, I can tell you, now that I know......Had my surgery on March 28th, and just today got back the final path report. My surgeon says that he was surprised...I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the endo. I had a TAH, and now am anxious to find out if they got it all. I was told that I needed to have the surgery because of a large mass on my left ovary, and because I had suffered for so long with heavy bleeding, they were going to take it all! He felt that if they only took the ovaries, it would not solve the problem of bleeding. Good thing they did....that's all I can say. The heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, and strange discharge were all symptoms of uterine cancer. The problem is that the symptoms vary from patient to patient. The best thing is to listen to your body, and never be satisfied with a wait and see approach. I wish you all the best, and hope you are aggressive with your GYN in finding out what's know when you are having problems that there has to be a "root cause". Never accept being brushed off, or passed off as normal if you feel it is not normal for you. If anyone has any info on this type of cancer, please pass it along to me, as I am very nervous, and will not be seeing the Oncologist until the end of the month. As it turned out, I had several fibroids in the endometrium that were cancerous, and have no idea what to expect at this point.

TAH 3/28/03 due to fibroids, PCOS, abdominal pain, severe bleeding, and Adenocarcinoma of the endometrium
Currently trying to heal with a seroma!!! What next?

May I ask what are the symptoms of Uterus Cancer?

You are so right. I keep thinking that the pain in my side is something to worry about. I am not the kind of person that complains about an illness. In fact, I missed NO work until this side pain. The first 5 years of this job which I have had for 9, I did not miss a day. Always been healthy. Then the leg cramping started. Legs felt worn out all the time. Then the side pain as well as sharp pains coming from the uterus that make you jump out of your seat. They only last a second but what a jolt. I had both of my children natural but my second child was the unusual birth. I bled monthly the entire time I carried her. It was lighter than normal and I was gaining weight but not like you are pregnant. Just fat. She was a premie at 8 months. Touch and go but she made it. I already had one child, was poor and was not going to spend money with a doctor is not absolutely necessary. I did not think I was pregnant. Continued using birth control. Already had one child not completely dumb. It was explained to me that these things happen although the doctor brought people by to see me. I spent 10 days in the hospital. Never knew exactly why.

I am wondering if this incident is now having a backlash effect on me. I had problems with birth control and blood pressure so I had my tubes tied at 28 years old.
