minor infection found

Well, luckily there weren't any pregnant women in the doctors office. Or if there were, I didn't notice them. The doctor said I was also having a discharge and he went and looked at it under the microscope. He came back and said it was a Yeast Infection. I said "again". It is my second one since the hyst. He gave me a prefilled applic with vaginal cream, but I told him a still had a refill for the Diflican "pill". He said the cream may work better. He said he could use the specimen for my pap since it was just Yeast. Now I have to wait and see how my pap comes back, hoping good of course. I asked him when I need to come back for another pap and he said 6 months. I find that hard to believe, I thought I was supposed to be seen every 3 months for a year or two. I am thinking of getting my records and swithing to a gyn/onc, I need to find out if one is on my insurance plan first. I also bled after the pap. I don't know if anyone else has experience with this or not.

Every DR is a little different in the way they do things. You'll notice that a GYN/ONC is very much suggested for any kind of cancer concern DX. Do you have any symptoms of a yeast infection besides the discharge? I had a yeast infection before my TAH and didn't even know it. Now I have a clear mucous discharge sometimes, but no other symptons you hear of like itching, burning or pain.

(((Peaches)))

I'm glad your visit went well. I always breathe a sigh of relief when there are no pregnant women in the waiting room. I had all of my children with the same doctor, so I still associate going there with being pregnant.

My doctor would never do my PAP when I had a yeast infection. He always told me to come back in 12-14 days when everything was cleared up. He doesn't tend use diflucan very much either. I always got the 7 day cream (and he was adamant--no 1-day stuff for me). But every doctor is different, and so are the needs of each patient.

Most of us are on the every 3 month schedule for the first 2 years. Was your cancer very early stage then? Like 1A? I have often read that they are able to successfully treat many 1A's with a cone only. Since you did have invasive cancer, you might like to consider an opinion by a gyn/onc. They are the experts when it comes to female cancer, and it just might make you feel better about your own situation if you saw one.

Let us know how your results turn out!
