Today is my two year anniversary of an ovarian cancer diagnosis.
It was on this day that I had the ultra sound performed, that changed my life forever. Kind of into BC and AC. In my heart I knew I had ovarian cancer from the moment the tech pointed out the masses to me. It did take another seven weeks for the surgery to be performed and the rest of my family and friends to become believers.

As I sit here remembering the terror I felt on that day, I realize how far I have traveled on this journey. Not that I wouldn't go back to my BC life in a flash. I would, if given the choice.
On some days it is hard to live fully without feeling that shadow.
But I never allow it to over take me!!! Ovarian cancer is just one small part of who I am.

To my friends on CC who are newly on this journey, I just want to reassure them that life after this diagnosis can still be absolutely wonderful. Different, but still sooo good. You will find strengths you never would have imagined. And courage that runs very deep. Like Margaret says: Women of teal are made of steel.

Thanks for being the best online support group anywhere.
Kudos to HysterSisters and Cancer Concerns!!!!!!

Happy Anniversary to You!! What a significant milestone you have reached. It is so true that we now think of our lives as "BC" and "AC." It seems as though these milestones mean so much to fellow cancer survivors but that those who have not heard those three little words don't comprehend our intense focus on D-day.

You can rest assured that you have been a real roll model and source of information and inspiration for other women on the ovarian cancer journey. Although I am an endometrial cancer gal myself, I have noted the true sense of appreciation and gratitude of the posts from women you have guided, educated, and supported through the twists and turns of the cancer highway.

Continued health and happiness to you and your family! It looks like the sun has just started to come out in your area after almost a solid week of extremely dreary weather. The sun must be shining especially for you!! Party heartyand enjoy the day to the absolute fullest--

A Two Year Survivor

BC and AC indeed. But you're two years, recurrence free, and have been such a wonderful source of information and common sense and strength and even fun on this board. Many more anniversaries...until far into the future you can hopefully forget about this day as you're too busy with other things. Ellen

Congratulations on your two year anniversary. Unlike you, I do not on the whole feel in my gut that I have cancer, though just the possibility of it, which my oncologist insists is there, is enough to fill me with pure terror some days. I hope so much that my hunch is correct, but if I am wrong and have to face a cancer diagnosis, I know that remembering your posts that are so full of life will be something I will hang on to for dear life. Thank-you for all your encouragement and inspiration.

Congratulations on your anniversary. You have been such a sourse of inspiration and knowledge to me since I found this board. I know what you say about BC and AC. i have another PET scan on Wednesday and it's hard to think about anything else. I don't think i go for more than a few hours without thinking of cancer, but i'm not as afraid as I was before thanks to you and others on this board.

Dear Karen,

Congratulations to you and may we all have many many more years of being cancer free.

Your advice has been wonderful to all of us. MY one year anniversary is next Friday, April 18th. That is when i had my hysterectomy and the diagnosis was given.

Well we have been hystersisters for a year. See, besides ovarian cancer we also have an anniversary month together!!

I am sending you all those great "happy dance" smilies in writing because, for some reason, I cannot get them any more. The writing on the left hand side of the screen, where I used to be able to click onto is not there anymore. Any suggestions on that???

Well Congrats again

Dear Karenann,

After my pre-surgery "we're pretty sure" diagnosis, I found this board and posted my concerns. I will always remember that you were one of the first people to step up and give me a and your sincere hope that the surgery would reveal a non-cancerous situation.

Since finding that I shared the same cancer and stage as you, I have been weekly blessed by your encouraging online posts and private "don't you dare!" messages. All of them mean a lot to me, and I have learned so much from you and your experiences.

It is my sincere hope that you will never have an AC recurrence of any sort. The journey you have gone through now enables you to play such an important role in the lives of others, and we quite frankly couldn't do without you.

You are appreciated more than words can possibly express here. It is a comfort to know that you are here to share your voice and experience with the many scared women who come to this board looking for answers, support and an encouraging hug.

May you have many more c-free anniversaries, dear Karenann! And may I and everyone else here soon join you on the c-free track!

s to you!
