new to this whole thing

Short story...i'm 33 and had a TAH/BSO on 2/28/03...my doc put me on the Climara patch .1 2 days after surgery. I have no problems (hot flashes etc...) but i have recently started having sore, swollen breasts.. I am ONLY on the climara patch, i'm not sure what kind of hormones i should be on so i do not know how to intellegently speak with my doctor about whether i am missing something or not...

anyone know of any good sites that would explain a bit about the "female" hormones, levels etc... I never thought i'd have to deal with this at my age, so i never really read up on it.

Thank you

Hi 'nette the pull-down articles at www.hormonejungle.com are a good place to start, especially this one: too much/too little estrogen/progesterone

Sometimes, sore, swollen breasts can be a sign of too much estrogen. Some ladies find that decreasing their patch dosage slightly will help, while others find that adding a little progesterone cream feels better to them. Everyone's different!

I would mention this to your DR and see what he/she has to say as well. Good luck!

Thank you for your links....i am glad to read that HRT is getting more attention and hopefully will help us all. I just never thought much about how the woman's body does what it does....once i found i needed at TAH/BSO i was so busy studying the "surgery" side i completely forgot to research the "HRT" side.

Thanks again Linda....i will speak with my doctor in depth on this at our next meeting.
