I've missed you gals, here with some updates :)
Hiya gals!
Boy I've missed you gals! My computer decided to up and bite the dust on me, so for the better part of two weeks I had no computer. Wow is it strange when you're used to being on the computer pretty much every day to not have one at all!
During this time I had a visit with my Hematologist to see if I could stop taking the Agrylin for the platelets. They had gone down far enough (258) so we gave it a shot.
For a few days it was great, I slept better, had more energy but started having horrible headaches. About the same time I was having sinus troubles so assumed it was related to those but nope, don't think so.
Less than two weeks after stopping the meds, my platelets jumped more than a hundred points. Dr said we could still try and not take the meds as long as the platelets stayed under 400 but if they continued to climb or the headaches kept on I'd have to go back on them. Since my platelet problem isn't a secondary condition but a primary condition, the chances of it staying down were pretty slim anyway.
Well, a day later I still had the same headache and I decided it just wasn't worth it, so I took the meds again. Hmmm, interestingly enough, the headache was gone within a couple hours and I haven't had one since.
So, at this point I'm back to the every other day schedule and I'm due to get the bloodwork checked again tomorrow morning.
I've got my fingers crossed so wish me luck!
{{{hugs}}}
Vicki

Dead Computers and Platelets
I've known several people whose computers have gone to that great Recycling Center in the sky lately. Seems to be an epidemic. Good try giving up the meds but looks like you're best on them. I had platelets bounce all over during chemo from a low of 37 to a high of 455 and the last one was 115. I hope the platelets stay in control and you like your new computer.

 s Vicki
You are a trooper for sticking with that agrylin for sooo long. As I recall, it is not without side effects of its own. But I guess it beats constant bad headaches. Hopefully Vicki, one day those platelets will just decrease on their own.

We've missed you! Sorry to hear you've been having computer problems .
Keeping my fingers crossed that your bloodwork comes back OK. You must have been disappointed that you couldn't get off the medication, but I'm glad the headaches got better quickly.
Keep us posted!
