IVP

Well, my "pills" started working at 2 this a.m. Had to be "cleaned" out for my IVP. Got to the hospital at 7 for a 7:30 a.m. appointment.

Technician told me that the doctor wanted to put in extra dye because from the cystogram -- the fistula was huge. I said, "what?" you have the results from my cystogram 2 days ago? He said, 2 days ago, no from december. I said that fistula was repaired, I just had a cystogram on Tuesday. He said hold on I'm paging your urologist. I said, Look, when you get him, tell him to get his butt down here, I want to talk to him! 5 minutes later in walks the doctor. We looked at the results of the cystogram (2 days earlier) and it's a wee leak. I asked him if he thinks cauterizing will still be the answer, if not, I'm going to go back to work for 30 days and then reapply for benefits, because they cut my pay by half.

He said, he feels confident with a stitch in the vagina and cauterizing the leak it should do the trick with day surgery.

So I am figuring -- abdominal surgery and waking up with a supra and foley. I figure if I expect the worst and I wake up with no incision -- bonus -- if I dont -- no surprise.

Anyway, the good news today -- I didn't need to have the IVP!

Thanks for all your prayers, could I finally be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel? Better not get too ahead of myself.

Thanks for all the prayers,

Sherry xoxo

(((Sherry))) that is wonderful news all around! Hopefully it will be just a 'wee teeny procedure' for that wee teeny leak, and then you'll be on your way back to feeling 100%!

I have a another fistula

Sherry,

When I was going back and forth as to how the urologist was going to repair my fistula, whether he'd do it vaginally or abdominally I was up and down daily. I feared that he try vaginally and then I wake up to the worst case scenerio which would be he messed with my vagina AND I ended up with another abdominal surgery. At first I told myself to expect the worst case scenerio. As the weeks came closer to my surgery date I called up my urologist and said, "do I have a choice on how you do the procedure?" He said absolutley. I told him THEN that I wanted it done abdominally because he couldn't guarantee that he could reach the fistula vaginally.

I knew what an abdominal recoverery was like. (2 c-sec's, and TAH in Nov. 2002) I wanted the best results even if it was another cut.

I think you are right about going into the "procedure" with the hopes that you can be repaired through the least intrusive procedure. I really hope for you that you CAN be repaired easily.
Preparing yourself for the worst case is a great idea. Then you are ready for anything.

Please know that my thoughts are with you and I hope you get yourself fixed for good. That's the key here. FIX ME/YOU

Take care,
Renee

I have a another fistula

Sherry,

Waiting it out has to be the worse. I too kept getting put off. Every two weeks I'd see the uro to see if I was healed enough from the abdominal hyst and every two weeks was set with a surgery date and then when uro checked me he said I still wasn't ready for the repair surgery. I KNOW he was only doing what he felt was best for my repair.

Hang in there Sherry. I will be sending you good thoughts.

Renee
