Scared with Fistula

Hi Casey,

Yes move slow....

I'm wondering why you have blood in your U-bag....I had blood while waiting for the repair surgery because the fistula would try and heal on it's own and then break open because it was too big and I'd see blood but I don't recall seeing blood after my repair with the supra and foley....

You may have a UTI (bladder infection) so you may want to call your uro and see if h/she wants you to drop off a specimen.

I'm glad your doing well and that your supra site is feeling better. Your're on the road to recovery....take it easy and drink lots of water to keep the cath flushed and cran/berry/rasberry juice is good too.

Take care. You are STILL in my thoughts.

Scared with Fistula

Hi Casey

Glad you are feeling better!!! Hope the blood issue has cleared up- do drink as much as you can and keep moving around so that it(the supra) can drain well- sometimes mine got a little clogged if I laid down to long. Are you taking anything for the constipation??? Check with your Dr to see what you can use- they don't want you straining at all- the only thing that worked for me after trying everything after both surgeries- was the citrucel tablets, not the liquid.. actually my home care nurse told me about it because she also had hyster and said it worked great for her and it did for me to, just check with Dr 1st before you try anything..

So happy you have some help- that makes the world of difference when someone can help you!!! You do find out who your true friends are at times like this!! Well have a Happy 4th of July and be well sister!!! Thinking of you- keep me posted I am always checking on ya!!!

Scared with Fistula

Hey Karen,

How are you doing? We were almost on the same time line with hyst. and V V F repair. I still am tired and have stretching and pulling along my incision and UTI's....any problems with you? Also RLS which is getting better with meds and exercise...Also I've been having some dreams....maybe it's cause I'm finally realizing that this nightmare is over???? I've dreamt that I started leaking again and had to go through the entire V V F repair again and I've also dreamt that I was this normal?

Casey hope you are feeling better each and everyday.

Enjoy the 4th and the rest of your summer vacation.

Scared with Fistula

Happy Fourth of July fellow Sisters-

I did call the Dr. about the blood in my bag. The nurse called me back and said that I probably strained too much due to the constipation. I have been taking two stool softeners and two fiber cons every night. I'm eating a cereal called Kashi Crunch, it has 8 gm of fiber. I'm drinking a lot of water. What else can I do? I am going to buy some cictucel. My nurse also suggested an enema if it doesn't get better. My Mom tried talking t me about after my recovery. I started crying and just told her that I can't think about it yet. I'm still too afraid that it won't work so I'm just going day by day. Enjoy th 4th. I'll stay in touch. Love, Casey

Scared with Fistula

Hi Ladies!!!

Hey Renee- I actually am doing OK most of the time- no real bladder problems- just feel like I have to go alot when I do- don't really hold to much, but I know my bladder is still adjusting and so am I.. I just have some hormone issues which I am trying to sort out.. My feet get very swollen and are very sore all the time and now I have a sore on my foot that won't heal- so off to GP next week- I think it might be something viral--who knows?? But just keep plugging along and am feeling almost myself again!! So thanks for asking!!

Casey Dear Friend- I hope you have had some success with the #2 issues- there is nothing worse than that- don't be afraid to try and enema- sometimes you just need a little help to "unblock" you so to speak and you will be on your way- you need to go to keep things moving, but I know the pain and scared feelings that you have- let me know about the citrucel tablets- they were great for me.. I hope you get relief soon and know I am thinking about you!!

Scared with Fistula

Hi Casey,

It's soooo normal to be afraid that your not repaired. I think I'm having dreams about leaking and blood because I'm finally 5 months post op and probably fixed for good....but my fears are still my dreams....

About the number 2 problem. I still take 2 stool softners a day and every night I have a cereal. Either Kashi, or some high fiber cereal made by Kashi. I get it at a "natual" food store. Since I'm a vegetarian I have to make sure I get the proper vitamins and that helps with extra protein too.

Each day will get better.....Hang in there and it's okay to be afraid. YOU have been through a lot.

Take care,
