Starting hormone therapy- Aygestin

I am new to all of this hormone stuff. I am 31 and am 9 days post-op from TAH, BSO and appendectomy due to stage 4+ endometriosis. I have dealt with infertiltiy issues for the past 5 years and after finding out I had severe amounts of scar tissue on my liver, I knew the time was right. I started having hot flashes in the hospital - my doctor has started me on Aygestin (progesterone) because the hot flashes started. I was wondering if anyone else has taken this and if it has worked well for them. I have tried to do some research on it, but can't find anything about it other than it being given to halt menstrual periods, which I don't have to worry about anymore. However, my hot flashes are still around and I am now not able to sleep lately. Any information will be greatly appreciated as I am lost in this hormone jungle. My mom has not gone through menopause yet, so I am no one really to find out what is good and bad. I don't even know what symptoms to be watching for? I don't go back to the DR. for another week. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

What about Aygestin - Help.

I found the following link about Aygestin that you might want to take a look at:

http://www.drugs.com/xq/cfm/pageid_0...ndex.htm#GXX05

It lists side effects and dosing info, etc.

I am wondering why your doc didn't start you on some type of estrogen replacement? The hot flashes and insomnia you're experiencing are definitely menopausal symptoms.

There is also lots of info in the hormone pulldowns:

Best of luck to you --
