How is uterine cancer treated?







For cancers that are confined to the
uterus, the initial treatment for the majority of cases (an particularly for women over about 45 years of age) is surgical resection meaning removal of the uterus and cervix along with the tubes and ovaries and in some cases removal of the lymph nodes to determine if the tumor has spread. In early stage disease, surgery is usually all that is needed to treat this cancer. In more advanced cancers, it is a combination of surgery, radiation and chemotherapy that is used to treat this cancer.
