Late Luteal Phase Disphoric Disorder

Is there anybody who has had a hysterectomy to eliviate severe PMS?

I have tried all medication and procedures for over 15 years and have only responded to tablets that supress my ovaries. The only problem is is that Danazol has bad side effects and can only be prescribed for 6 months every 2 or more years. My symptoms are so severe that Hysterectomy is the last hope. I feel positive about this decision but would like to know from another sufferer of the outcome

I'm a little confused. Your message didn't say anything about your ovaries. What does your doctor think of this? Does he say that removing your uterus will help alleviate your symptoms? Is he planning on taking both your ovaries, leaving only one, or just taking your uterus?

Thanks Jewls for your reply to my last post.

The doctors are looking at removing everything!!!!.

The problem is actually in my pituitary gland . I do not produce progesterone which sends my estrogen levels to dangerous limits!!. Nothing has been able to change this except for Danazol which suppresses my ovaries. Whist on Danazol I have a great life. Unfortunately I can only have Danazol for 6 months every 2 years. If the doctor leaves the ovaries it will be a complete waste of time I think as I will still have estrogen to content with.

I am looking at HRT but in low doses however I am so confused with everthing I don't really know.!

I see my doctor on the 24th JAn and it is then that the date will be set.

I have had 2 emergency cesereans. I gather this operation will be a little worse than having a section ?

I feel positive that this operation will help me. I have nothing rerally to loose!
Thanks again. I await a reply.

Wendy
