Getting pretty worried-need opinions

Hello - I have only posted once here, but read daily! I love this site - it has helped with my questions immensely. I have numerous fibroids that have caused several months of constant bleeding. I have had 2 c-sections and a previous removal of right tube and ovary encased in an endometrium cyst. I have had a vertical scar from my belly button down for almost 20 years. I have made the decision to incorporate a tummy tuck with my TAH. (too many adhesions to do otherwise.) So, I've been reading here about the healing process, and checking on a tummy tuck forum for their healing stories......and I'm starting to think I'm crazy for doing this.

Sounds like I will have drains, a binder, won't be able to stand straight up, plus gas, bloating and pain from the inside. Do you think the pain from the incision will be much different than regular TAH incisions? My surgery is scheduled for 2/18 and I have to pay for the TT by next week. I'm excited at the thought of getting this pain and bleeding over with and a flat tum along with it.......What do you all think?

worried

I can sure understand what you are saying, and I'm kind of sorry I didn't think of the tummy tuck. I had a TAH/BSO on 12-30 and honestly the pain/discomfort of the incision is, at least to me very minor at this point, just hit the 3 week mark. I do have some numbness and a little swelling at the incision, but nothing terrible. I actually tought the pain would be a lot worse than it was, only took pain meds for 5 days. I think I a fast healer though, I'm doing a lot of my normal day to day things with no problem, other than making myself take it easy and lay down for awhile. I even went back to work this week and have been fine.

I know in time I'll get my little buldge back where it belongs in time, its just not going fast enough for me :-( The lady in the next bed to me also had the tummy tuck done, and she was going home a day after me, its basically the gas pains at first, once you get past that part and go to the bathroom, the rest is smooth sailing, provided you have no other complications or bleeding. I've been extremely lucky, I think too, if you go into this with a positive additude, you'll be better off.

Best of luck.

Thanks for your response. I am trying to stay positive, but as it creeps closer - I get more worried.

I feel a little guilty about the TT, but I guess I shouldn't. If I were getting a Vag Hist - I wouldn't even have thought about it. But, since they are cutting anyway.......

Wow - so you are back at work. That's encouraging. They told me around 6 weeks depending on what they find when they go in. I hope it goes smoothly. So, I guess the gas might be the worst thing???? Seems like it has been for lots of people here.

Thanks for the encouraging words. If you think of anything else that will make the healing process go smoothly, let me know. Thanks.
