Either way, ablation or hysterectomy, you will no longer be able to have kids. I want to clarify Daisy's comment about an ablation decreasing but not stopping your chance of getting pregnant. That is correct, however, pregnancy after ablation is very dangerous (both to mother and fetus) therefore a reliable form of birth control should be used.

I'd also like to add that not everybody has the same emotional reaction to "losing the parts" or no longer being able to conceive. I did go through ablation first. Thirteen months later (at age 38) I had a hysterectomy (unrelated to the ablation). While I was happy with the results of the ablation, I was thrilled with the hysterectomy. I was glad to get rid of my uterus. In hindsight I wished I could have had it done many years ago to enjoy the "freedom" I'm now experiencing.

You'll get many different replies, with many different opinions. None are wrong, but you have to remember to make the one that's right for YOU.

Re: Deciding between ablation & hysterectomy at age 30!!!

I had an ablation and it significantly reduced my bleeding for about a year and a half and then the heavy bleeding started all over again. I was in my mid forties at the time and had two children. Because I had uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts it did nothing to address those issues and I had a hysterectomy ten months ago. Keep doing your research and talking to your gynocologist about your options. Good luck with your decision.

Re: Deciding between ablation & hysterectomy at age 30!!!

I am 30 and had a hysterectomy 6 wks ago.I did have an ablation about 2 months prior to my hyster due to bleeding and pain.It was horrible for me from the time I woke up in recovery until they removed it.Felt like I was in labor and looked like it for that 2 months. As mentioned before though turns out I did have adenomyosis.I was never checked for it post op and sometimes they can't diagnose until uterus is removed.
Just make sure whichever option you choose that you understand child bearing is over with either option.I wish you the best of luck,do your homework because only you know which option is the best for you((hugs)))
