Anyone have swollen V Mound at 4 wks post op?

I had a TAH on May 19. Everything has been going great until the last few days. I feel a real tightness across my lower abdomen and my V Mound feels very puffy and bruised. Does anyone have any comments?

Are you sitting more? This past weekend I went to see my grandmother and sat two days in a row in the car for 2 1/2 hours - not counting sitting at the hospital and such. I was swollen and slightly bruised on Sunday. It took a couple of days and is now gone.

Now that you mention it, maybe I am, but I'm not sure. It is a real stange sensation. My daughter, who is into this stuff, asked if I was read or bruised which might suggest internal bleeding, but I couldn't really tell 'cause of my p. hair. I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this. It feels as if the area under my pubic hair is full of fluid. Really weird. Thanks for the thought

Hi Katsura.

Did you have any lymph nodes removed (generally only if the surgery is for cancer but may be done for other reasons) -- if so then there is a possibility that you may have lymphedema. While it's fairly uncommon I know there are a couple of gals over on cancer concerns who have had this happen.

Even if you didn't have lymph nodes removed you may want to call and ask your doctor -- I think from what I have read it very, very rarely can occur if the lymph nodes get blocked due to surgical disturbance. Anyway -- and again this is from what I've researched, I have no medical background -- one test is that if you push in on the swollen area it won't pop right back but will stay indented.

It most likely is just swelling due to activity -- we all seem to swell in different places -- but it may still be worth a call.

Hi Katusrua,

I've had swelling similar to what you describe off and on throughout my recovery. For the last couple of weeks it seems to come and go in response to my activity......sitting too long at the computer or being out and about running too many errands seems to make it worse. I'm about six weeks post op.

If this was sudden or new, then it wouldn't hurt to give your doctor's office a call just to see what he or she thinks.
