removal of ovaries and facial hair

This is my personal observation: when women age and their ovaries aren't making as much estrogen, there is more testosterone, so it appears that postmenopausal women (natural) grow noticeable facial hair.

I have light hair on my face, before my surgery I had a bit more than just peach fuzz. My surgery was a little over 2 years ago, and I'm on Estrace 1mg/day. I have actually noticed less hair than before, a lot less of the "more than peach fuzz".

You might want to venture into the "Hormone Jungle" or the "No Hormone Desert Oasis" to get some further idea how the ovaries and hormones work.

Best wishes!

removal of ovaries and facial hair

If I get facial hair [dark long stuff & not the peach fuss stuff], I wonder if the Dr can remove it and put it on top of my head. I have very thin fine hair. I would love more hair on the TOP of my head. Men do the hair plug thing all the time. Got to think on the good side of life. I don't need anything else to worry about.

Thank you for all your replies ! I don't feel so bad now.

I have my pre-op on Tuesday, and have a loooooooooong list for my gyno. Based on what I read, I don't think it will be as bad as she made it sound. I don't know why she mentioned that to me. I'm sure there are other things I may need to worry about...

I love all my hystersisters. You have helped make this journey a little less daunting.

Love to all !

facial hair

I am still pre-op but I can tell you when you stop producing hormones you get facial hair. I am post menopausal and found stray hairs growing in the chin area. I wax my eyebrows and upper lip (I have done this since just before I was married seven years ago, and swore at the time I would never again pay someone to hurt me like that but I keep on doing it). I have brown hair (except for the gray) and they are still really hard to see. I usually discover my faicial hairs accedentally and most often when I am away from home and have no tweezers nearby. When I get home I get my tweezers and spend awhile squinting into the bathroom mirror, I locate the hair and pull it out with the tweezers. I have not found it to be a big problem. My take on this is when you find a hair, pull it out! trust me, two will not grow in it's place. If that was the case I would be in BIG trouble, my DH tells me there can only be ONE beard or mustache in our family and HE has it! Good luck to all of the sisters! Be sure to keep your Chin up and have a stiff upper lip (lol)

I was having problems with more hair showing up on my chin a few months before the surgery. I haven't really seen any extra. But the growth rate of all my hair hasn't slowed or sped up.
