Please answer quickly--Bleeding question

I had my LAVH done 8 days ago. Today I coughed twice, and now there is a lot of bright red blood, seems to be tapering off to pink. There is a stinging pain in my upper vaginal area. Has this ever happened? Is it normal or should I call the doctor?

Usually the "worry" point is soaking a pad an hour. So it sounds like fo now this falls in the "normal" range. I popped a stitch and had something similar happen.

However all that being said if you are feeling uncomfortable, call your doctor!

Re: Please answer quickly--Bleeding question

Thank you so much! Did you have a burning pain when you popped your stitch? It is evident, but the bleeding is not anywhere close to a pad an hour, it's just very scary!

Re: Please answer quickly--Bleeding question

Well, always call the dr if you're concerned. That's why we're paying them the big bucks

I popped a stitch later in the game -- at about five weeks I think -- and it stung.

Re: Please answer quickly--Bleeding question

I did not have burning pain. It was just an emotional shock. I was out of town so I did call my surgeon but laid down, put my feet up and it stopped. If you do the resting and it continues or if the pain worsens DEFINITELY call your doctor!.

Re: Please answer quickly--Bleeding question

If you feel like it is improving you are probably just fine. Might as well call the doctor tomorrow and see what they say. Maybe they can give you an idea of what might have happened and why you've had burning. They might give you advice on how to help if it happens again. Good luck and feel good.

Re: Please answer quickly--Bleeding question

Thank you all very much! I did go to the doctor today and she said I didn't tear a stitch rather I strained too much and am being too active for as recent as the surgery was. She advised me to SLOW down, ehich is not my strong point, however I'm learning that I'm not in control right now!

Re: Please answer quickly--Bleeding question

Slowing down doesn't seem to be a strong point in any of our personalities. I wonder if over doer is a predisposition of hysterectomy. Try to pace yourself and when you get up stay up for only 5-10 minutes before resting. No more 'just one more quick thing".

Re: Please answer quickly--Bleeding question

Hope09, that is funny about being a predisposition. I think many of us, as women, just seem to be over-doers.

Many of us work, have a family/household to take care of, errands to run, chores to do, and the list goes on. The thought of staying put for any real length of time just doesn't cut it for most of us. There are things that need to be done!!!! I know I am having trouble with the laundry, dishes, and light house work. I tend to get into a project and keep going until I can't go anymore. The only thing I find odd is that I get lazy-feeling but I am having a real tough time sleeping. (Dr said it is very normal so sometimes I take a sleeping pill to fall asleep).

As far as doing too much, just be real careful and pace yourself. The chores will still be there when you feel better and feel up to doing them.
